I’ve become a bit obsessed with hot soaking tubs and sauna during these fall days as I am sensitive to the cold. I’m also attracted to heat therapy when I start having a lot of bodily tension from work stress. Here is a short braindump of places to go to relax your muscles, get warm and nurture yourself in Portland:
1. Kennedy School Soaking Pool- $5 an hour for a shared 100+ degree pool located in NE Portland
2. Common Ground Wellness Center- Right now they are offering a 2 for 1 gift certificate for $15, so if you go with a friend, it’s $8.50 for a sauna and soaking tub. The gift certificate gets you 1 hour on the weekend or 1 1/2 hours during the week. Exciting!
3. Bagby Hot Springs- I’m in love with Bagby during the winter! You can generally attend for free, although donations are accepted. It’s located outside of Portland, but if you have transportation, a chance to indulge naturally occurring soaking tubs are always worth it.
4. Public, homemade Sauna in SE Portland- There isn’t a website on this, but in SE Portland, a house created a sauna. And on Sunday nights, they open the Sauna up to the public. As it is an informal environment, to find out it’s address, comment on this blog and I can email you the location.
