Lately, one way I take care of myself is trying to really enjoy my meal. I am trying to do this in two ways. 1) eat slowly and be mindful on just eating. When I eat alone, it’s very easy for me to multitask. But keeping my attention simply on eating is very centering and makes me chew longer (increasing digestibility of the food). 2) Consider atmosphere. Eating is a part of all cultures; all cultures have ceremonies and rituals surrounding food preparation and intake. Consider what makes a pleasant eating environment for you? For me, it’s being physically comfortable, sitting down, listening to music and being visually stimulated by my surroundings.
